Skip the coffee shop and try this easy mocha pumpkin spice latte recipe! Pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice guarantee that this homemade version packs plenty of pumpkin flavor. One of my favorite pumpkin recipes to make on a chilly fall day!
115 ounce canpacked pumpkin puree *not pumpkin pie mix
1cup (227ml)whole milk
3/4cup (159g)light brown sugarpacked
1/3cup (28g)unsweetened 100% cocoa powder
2ounces (57g)70% cocoa dark chocolate finely chopped
2Tablespoons (28ml) molasses
1Tablespoonpumpkin pie spice
2teaspoonspure vanilla extract
1/2teaspoonsalt
For the Mocha Pumpkin Spice Latte:
3cups (681ml)whole milk
8Tablespoonsespresso powder
whipped creamoptional
chocolate syrup optional
chocolate shavings optional
Instructions
For the Pumpkin Mocha Syrup:
Into a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, add the pumpkin, milk, brown sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate, molasses, and pumpkin pie spice. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until a thick chocolate syrup has formed. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Set aside until needed.
For the Mocha Pumpkin Spice Latte:
Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm.
Add 2 Tablespoons of espresso powder to a large coffee mug. Pour 3/4 cup of the hot milk into the cup and stir to combine. Add a 1/2 cup of the chocolate syrup into the cup and stir well to combine. Repeat with the remaining ingredients (You should be able to make about 3 more large mugs).
Top with swirls of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup/chocolate shavings if desired.
