This past weekend we left Brooklyn for a nice little “stay-cation” in the big city. It was sort of weird staying in a hotel less than an hour from home, but it was a lot of fun, and a nice way to disconnect from the daily grind. To make the weekend extra special, we made some extra fancy mimosas with fresh tangerine juice and a tiny pop of citrus vodka. Ya know, just to make sure they did the job right 😉
Tangerines are very available right now, and you shouldn’t have a problem finding a giant box for 7 or 8 dollars, even less if you’re lucky and find them on sale. And because tangerines are naturally very juicy, juicing them if pretty easy. I started out using my citrus juicer, but by the end just went with squeezing the juice out manually and straining out the seeds at the end.
Tangerine juice is very sweet, so I don’t recommend adding any extra sweeteners to these drinks, but I do think a handful of berries on top makes a fabulous garnish! Plus, is there anything better than champagne soaked berries?! Uh uh. I don’t think so.
Have a happy Monday, friends! xoxo

Staycations are the best! All the fun of a vacation, but without the stress of long travel. Bet you had a great time. This mimosa sounds delicious! My friend has an orange tree, and we went over to her house and she was making fresh squeezed OJ mimosas. I bet tangerines are even better : )

Nice! One of my favorite cocktails is fresh tangerine juice, vanilla vodka and a splash of Cointreau. Throw back to my bartending days. 🙂
