Well would you look at that? Here I am. Eating fruit and yogurt AND nuts for breakfast these days. Like a… like a totally normal (ok, semi-normal) functioning (again, semi) grown person. It only took me 27 and a half years to get it down. The secret? Make it feel like dessert. The secret to that? Raw honey, baby. Lots and lots of raw honey.
I made this fruit and nut and yogurt situation into a healthy breakfast banana split for two because sometimes sharing a meal from the same plate is just what the doctor ordered. I mean, It doesn’t have exactly the same romantic element as say, slurping spaghetti from the same bowl… but you can always playfully fight over the precious pistachios if need be 😉
Also, I can scarf down one of these banana splits for two easily on my own. So don’t stop yourself from whipping one up if you’re rolling solo.
Chocolate chips with a light or not-so-light hand may also be added at any time… just saying.
Back to the recipe that’s not really a recipe. My favorite kind for lazy days 😉
The base of this “banana split” is full-fat greek yogurt spiked with a whopping tablespoon of raw honey. You can add more later (drizzle it all over), but for the yogurt part I’ve found one tablespoon is pretty perfect. Also… if you’re tempted to swap in low-fat/no-fat yogurt, a word of advice: don’t do it! I tried this recipe out with both and it got all runny and gross and well, just stick to the full-fat. You gotta live a little, ya know.
Fresh berries, salty pistachios, thick honey sweet yogurt, and obviously, BANANAS. All I gotta say is DO IT. You can thank me later, yo. xoxo
