This Thick and Creamy Peanut Butter Breakfast Shake tastes like dessert! Easily whipped up in minutes, this is sure to become a morning time favorite!
Peanut Butter Breakfast Shake
There’s nothing I love more than an easy breakfast shake that could easily double as a decadent dessert. This thick and creamy chocolate peanut butter breakfast shake ——-> TOTAL BREAKFAST BABE. It’s loaded with all of the good things (protein packed peanut butter, sweet and natural honey, cocoa powder, almond milk, and frozen bananas) and tastes just like a morning milkshake. A healthy and delicious shake… Crazy, right?
Crazy Awesome!
I used almond milk and peanut butter in this smoothie, but you could totally use cow’s milk or even almond butter if that’s what you’ve got in your fridge. So… options 😉
One note: If you’re watching those nasty little things called calories, using almond milk (unsweetened) is a great way to shave some off! A whole cup is only like 30 calories, and – in my opinion – is very tasty! One of my fabulous readers reported back that she made this with chocolate almond milk, and I have a feeling that would be world rocking as well!
Next time you’re craving a lil’ PB + Chocolate loving, give this decadent thick and creamy chocolate peanut butter breakfast shake a swirl. It only takes 30 seconds in the blender… and you’re going to like it-like it-love it. I promise. xoxo
I use my beloved Vitamix blender to make this smoothie and if you’re in the market for a new machine, I 100% recommend this one! It’s an investment, but worth every penny if you blend as much as I do 😉

I just made this and it turned out amazing! I used agave instead of honey and reduced fat peanut butter. Yum! Will definitely be a go-to shake to make! Thanks for the awesome recipe.

O-M-G get in my tummy good! Just made it and this would be fantastic as a dessert or anytime sweet craving without the guilt!
bakerbynature says
Yay! I agree; this is one of my favorite “nice” treats for when the old sweet tooth kicks in 😉
Brittani says
Hey, I just made this and it was so yummy! My 1yr old even drank it and she is super picky lol. Have you ever made these in advance and froze them for the next day or just put them in the fridge? Thought about doing those for make ahead…
bakerbynature says
Hi Brittani. I don’t think it would store well as smoothies have a tendency to separate after a while. I’m so happy you and your daughter enjoyed this 🙂 It’s one of my favorite healthier treats!
Debbie says
I found your recipe on Pinterest and decided to make it, even though I’ve never been crazy about smoothies. Until now! This is so satisfying, easy to make, and with simple ingredients that I always have on hand. Love that! Thanks for sharing.
Cheronne says
Would I be able to use any other milk as I don’t have Almond Milk?
bakerbynature says
Hi Cheronne. Yes! You can use regular cow’s milk, cashew milk, or soy milk 😉
Lani M. says
The bananas were a little much for me… Do you think ice would be a good substitute?
bakerbynature says
Hi Lani. Using ice will definitely result in a grainer texture and less flavor, but it’s worth a shot! You may love it 🙂 I would recommend starting with a 1/2 cup of ice, and adding more if needed.
Wendy says
I don’t like bananas and I make a chocolate peanut butter smoothie with oat flour (ground oats) and ice which thickens it up, but also gives the smoothie more oomph to really stick with you. I also use chocolate protein powder instead of cocoa and can skip the honey. That way, it keeps me full until lunch!
Allie says
This smoothie is delicious!!
bakerbynature says
Hi Allie. So glad to hear you enjoyed it 🙂

Can I use strawberry and pb2 premium chocolate
Joy Holden says
can I make this without honey? Will it be sweet enough?
bakerbynature says
Hi Joy. It will definitely be less sweet, but you could always make is sans honey, give it a taste, then add a little bit as needed 😉 I personally drink it without honey all the time, but I like less sweet drinks. Let me know how it turns out! xo
Patricia says
Excellent recipe! And I made it with a $20 (used) frappe maker I bought at a thrift store. Sorry, I just cannot believe that ANY blender (let alone a $600 one) can change the taste when the ingredients are the same. I really am not trying to be mean or rude, just my opinion.
bakerbynature says
Hi Patricia! I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this recipe 🙂 Your frappe maker sounds amazing! No offense taken. My vitamix was a Christmas present and since I often get requests about the products I use, I include a link in certain posts so I don’t have to re-type what I use over and over again. I absolutely love finding affordable appliances and definitely agree that no matter what blender you use, it won’t change the taste 😉 xo
Tiny says
I have a vita mix as well.its totally worth my money as I use it to process tomatos, apples for sauce and so much more than smoothies. I do agree though if it’s just drinks you’re making I wouldn’t recommend spending the money.
tanya says
this looks delicious. But it is over 700 calories. maybe substitute PB2?
bakerbynature says
Hi Tanya. The recipe is for two large meal sized smoothies (I typically drink this as my breakfast since it’s so filling), so take that into account when calorie counting. I’ve never tried PB2, but it’s worth a try 🙂
