If you’re looking for the perfect holiday cocktail recipe, look no further than these White Christmas Margaritas! They’re thick, creamy, and always a crowd-pleaser. Garnish with lime, pomegranate seeds, and sprigs of fresh mint for the ultimate Christmas cocktail.
White Christmas Margarita Recipe
I can’t promise you a white Christmas… but I can promise you these white Christmas margs are the ultimate party starter and perfect for holiday bashes big or small.
They’re absolutely stunning, and come together in the blender. Which ensures the mixture is thick, frothy, and smooth. And avoids the whole cocktail shaker process, leaving you free to socialize all night, instead of shaking up individual cocktails.
Christmas Margarita Ingredients
There are 3 parts to this recipe: the Ginger Lime Simple Syrup, the coconut margarita mix, and the garnish! Below is what you’ll need to make these dreamy holiday cocktails a reality.
- Sugar: Be sure to use granulated sugar, not brown here! Which would alter the color of the cocktail, and make it NOT a white Christmas drink. But more of a muddy color.
- Water: Need I say more?
- Limes: Buy PLENTY of limes, because you’ll use them in all 3 parts of this recipe. The lime peel is used in the simple syrup; the lime juice is used in the margarita mixture; and you’ll run a lime wedge around the rim of the cups for the coconut rim. You’ll also garnish with fresh lime slices.
- Oranges: You’ll be using the peel and juice here, as well. And you could certainly garnish with orange slices, if desired.
- Ginger: FRESH is a must for the recipe. Do not sub ground ginger.
- Coconut Cream: Aka cream of coconut. This is not the same as coconut milk, however a thick Thai-style coconut milk may be used as a replacement if it’s all you can find. The margs will just be slightly less creamy and thick.
- Blanco Tequila: Aka silver tequila. But gold tequila will work in a pinch.
- Orange Liqueur: I prefer this over triple sec, which is overly sweet and doesn’t add much flavor. Our faves our Grand Marnier and Cointreau.
- Coconut: Be sure to get the finely shredded variety so it sticks to the cup. Of course, you can totally skip this ingredient and step if you prefer not to have a rim on your drinks. If you really want to amp up the coconut flavor, you could add a dash of coconut extract, but it’s really not necessary.
- Ice: Crushed ice, ice cubes, nugget ice… it’s up to you! But remember to have ice on hand so you can keep your drinks cold.
- Pomegranate Seeds: For garnish! You may absolutely skip this ingredient or sub with fresh cranberries instead.
- Mint Sprigs: Another optional garnish idea! Feel free to skip or use a rosemary sprig instead. Cranberries and rosemary look gorgeous together! But I use that combo a lot so I wanted to shake it up with a new garnish idea.
Let’s Make Christmas Margaritas!
- Make the Simple Syrup! You can make this up to 2 weeks in advance and store in the fridge until needed.
- Make the Margarita Mix! In a large blender, combine the simple syrup with the coconut cream, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and orange juice and pulse until smooth and frothy. Strain into a large pitcher and set aside! train the mixture into the pitcher.
- Make the Coconut Rims! You’ll sprinkle the coconut on a small plate and then mix in the lime zest. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass to get it wet, then dip the rim into the finely shredded coconut. Voila! Coconut rim is complete!
- Serve! Fill the glasses with ice pour then pour the margarita mix on top. Garish with pomegranate seeds, mint, and extra lime slices.
